Nominations being accepted for excellence in undergraduate research award

The provost’s office is is offering the fifth annual student award for distinguished undergraduate research. The award is given to recognize outstanding individual contributions in research for the purpose of the discovery and creation of new knowledge at K-State and is open to any field of study. The recipient will receive an award of $1,000.

Eligible students may be nominated by faculty, students, staff or administrators. The deadline for receipt of nominations is Feb. 22. Finalists will be invited for an interview. Applications are available at http://www.k-state.edu/provost/enrichment/awards/presundstures.html and should be submitted electronically in PDF format to Gail Zeak at gaill@k-state.edu

Nominees must: 

  1. Be a full-time, undergraduate student at K-State with a minimum grade point average of 3.0.
  2. Be a sophomore, junior or senior.
  3. Show evidence of outstanding knowledge of discipline (e.g., publications, presentations, letters of support, internships, service learning, exhibits, acceptance to pre-professional, graduate, or professional schools, etc.).
  4. Have been actively engaged in research within the past twelve months prior to the semester of the award.  
  5. Be enrolled during the academic year in which the award is given.
  6. Have a letter of support from his/her faculty research project supervisor.
