College of Business names new finance department head
Kevin Gwinner, dean of the K-State College of Business Administration, has named Hardy Johnson as the new head of the Department of Finance. Johnson is an associate professor of finance, the director of the Financial Services Leadership Institute and has served as interim department head for the last academic year.
“He has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to the finance faculty, finance students and college constituents,” Gwinner said.
Johnson received his MBA from the University of Alabama, Birmingham in 2002 and his doctorate from the University of Mississippi in 2013. He has been teaching at K-State since fall 2013. His research centers around understanding odd lot orders and trades, how they are used by individuals and institutions, as well as their growing prevalence in modern markets.
“It’s an honor to be selected to head the finance department at Kansas State, and to continue to advance its already very positive trajectory,” Johnson said. “I have every confidence that with the talent and dedication of our faculty and staff, we can further the department’s research and student successes, and become the best finance department in the state.”
