City of Manhattan to begin Manhattan Avenue project this week

Submitted by the Division of Facilities

The city of Manhattan will begin its Manhattan Avenue project this week with Ebert Construction working on improvements at the east end of Vattier Street and North Manhattan Avenue.

The project is expected to take place Wednesday, Sept. 20, through the end of October.

Vattier Street east of North Manhattan Avenue will be closed for approximately five weeks. During this time, work will begin on the removal and reconstruction of the sidewalks, crosswalks and signals on the east half of North Manhattan and Vattier Street. In addition, during this phase of construction, no vehicular or pedestrian traffic will be allowed to use the east half of the intersection. Eastbound traffic leaving the K-State campus on Vattier Street will be restricted to right turns only. Please see the map for more details and explanation.

Be aware of possible congestion in this area, particularly during the end of the workday and other times when there tends to be a high volume of traffic.

For more information, please contact Ken Hays, city of Manhattan project coordinator, hays@cityofmhk.com
