Students invited to apply to serve as peer mentors

Submitted by Zanete Malan

The Division of Academic Success and Student Affairs, or DASSA, is seeking students to serve as peer mentors during the fall 2024 and spring 2025 semesters. DASSA peer mentors are students who offer personalized guidance and support to K-State's first-year students. The Staley School of Leadership is supporting this initiative by providing credit-bearing training and development to the peer mentors.

DASSA peer mentors are required to facilitate small group discussions, provide one-on-one connection opportunities with mentees, attend the sponsored LEAD 312: Peer Leader Practicum, a three-credit-hour class and perform administrative functions such as report writing, attendance, etc. A peer mentor has confidence, good time management skills, the ability to listen to and understand others and is motivated to improve oneself and others.

DASSA peer mentors will be sponsored to enroll for the LEAD 312 class — three credits — for the fall 2024 semester and will work 5-7 hours per week for all academic weeks of the fall 2024 and spring 2025 semester at $11 per hour.

Applications are due by noon on Friday, June 7. Please review the application packet and submit your application electronically using this Qualtrics survey.
