BRI Research Fellows Lecture Series presents Linda Dixon
Linda Dixon, head of the African swine fever virus, or ASFV, group at Pirbright Institute in Surrey, U.K., will present "African swine fever virus: Advances in knowledge of virus replication, host interactions and application to control tools" at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, in the BRI Lecture Hall at Pat Roberts Hall.
Light refreshments will be served following the seminar. The seminar is open to the public.
Dixon studied biochemistry at Sussex University and completed her doctorate at Edinburgh University. She undertook postdoctoral research at Edinburgh and in Basel Switzerland before moving to Pirbright as a senior researcher. Her research has focused on understanding functions of ASFV encoded proteins and how these manipulate host functions in cells and pigs. This knowledge has been applied to the development of candidate live attenuated ASFV vaccines. She has also researched mechanisms of ASFV transmission relevant for understanding virus epidemiology. Dixon is U.K. National and World Organization of Animal Health ASF disease expert and an investigator at the Jenner Institute Oxford UK. She has authored more than 180 publications.
