Submitted by Cailin Wycoff

The exhibit, curated from the cookery collection of the Richard L. D. and Marjorie J. Morse Department of Archives and Special Collections, features manuscript and printed cookbooks from Central America, South America and the Caribbean.

"Sabores de Casa: Latin American Cuisines," a new exhibit at Hale Library, showcases cookbooks from nearly every country in Latin America.

The exhibit, curated from the cookery collection of the Richard L. D. and Marjorie J. Morse Department of Archives and Special Collections, features manuscript and printed cookbooks from Central America, South America and the Caribbean.

Visitors will have the opportunity to view these rare cookbooks and learn more about how Latin American cuisine developed, including the African influence on Caribbean foods.

"This exhibit is a first for me, as I have never created an exhibit that encompasses so many countries," said Roger Adams, rare books librarian and curator of the exhibit. "Visitors will find exciting, new materials from our cookery collection, as well as a Mexican manuscript cookbook that is nearly 300 years old."

The exhibit is now on display in Hale Library's fifth-floor gallery through March 7, 2025. It is free and open to the public.
