Water Wednesday events resume in September

Submitted by Melissa Harvey

The Kansas Water Institute will host the first Water Wednesday luncheon of the academic year from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sept. 11. This event will highlight faculty-led research from the Global Food Systems Seed Grant Program, with a focus on advancing innovation within food systems.

"We are excited to showcase this important research at Water Wednesday," said Susan Metzger, Kansas Water Institute director. "These projects have the potential to make big impacts on Kansas' leadership role in the food system, and learning more about these studies will be a foundation for our larger conversation about the role of water research within Global Food Systems."

During the luncheon, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a poster session showcasing a wide range of research initiatives from seven Seed Grant-funded projects; scientists from each project will be available for discussion and to answer questions. The poster session will highlight the program's focus on innovation, workforce development and economic impact.

This event is designed to foster networking and collaboration among attendees, offering opportunities for teaching, grant proposals and other professional engagements. Participants will expand their interdisciplinary network and make meaningful connections between the presented research projects and their own expertise and networks.

Interested individuals are invited to RSVP online. All K-State faculty, staff and students are welcome, but space is limited to the first 60 registrants. A complimentary lunch will be provided.

The Kansas Water Institute will host Water Wednesday events each month, aiming to facilitate meaningful exchanges and showcase impactful research. The full Water Wednesday schedule is available on the Kansas Water Institute website. To request additional information, contact water@k-state.edu
