K-State Office of Recruitment and Admissions offers support for articulation agreements

Submitted by Office of Recruitment and Admissions

Meeting the needs of students where they are is key to achieving our Next-Gen K-State goals. Articulation agreements between Kansas community colleges and K-State give students greater access to completing a bachelor's degree. Additionally, these agreements offer learners options to those who have already earned a large number of credit hours, are place-bound or have other obligations.

A recent agreement between K-State and Johnson County Community College allows students to transfer up to 73 credit hours toward a Bachelor of Science degree in personal financial planning. Students can choose to complete the undergraduate degree online or on the Manhattan or Olathe campuses.

"These agreements allow the College of Health and Human Sciences to continue providing access to all learners and meet them where they are at," said Shawna Jordan, assistant dean for student success. "As we have worked with our community college partners on numerous agreements, it has been a valuable learning experience for all of us to increase awareness about the opportunities at our institutions as well as career opportunities. We look forward to continuing formalizing future agreements."

The Office of Recruitment and Admissions coordinates the creation and maintenance of K-State articulation agreements across all campuses and modalities of learning. Colleges or departments can expect articulation agreement assistance with the following:

• Exploration of possible articulation agreements.

• Identification of potential partnerships for high-demand and unique programs.

• Standardizes formatting and resources for drafting articulation agreements.

• One-on-one support for draft creation.

• Community college collaboration assistance.

• Central repository of articulation agreements for the university.

Academic units interested in learning more about the possibility of developing articulation agreements should contact Andrew Wimp, assistant director for transfer recruitment, at awimp@k-state.edu.
