S(he) Speaks Cinema premiere Nov. 1 with 'It Ends with Us'
K-State students, staff and faculty are invited to the first S(he) Speaks Cinema Series on Friday, Nov. 1, at 6 p.m. in Forum Hall in the K-State Student Union. The first film will be "It Ends with Us" starring Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni. We will have free popcorn, candy and drinks available. The event is free for all to attend.
The goal with the film series is to create and model civic discourse for students around various current events and topics. The films will address, either directly or indirectly, current topics and conversations important to our students and community. We want to encourage students to think critically about the messages they receive from media and how these messages impact our thinking and decisions. By engaging in films to move hard conversations forward we are also aligning with several of the Next-Gen K-State strategic goals: to accelerate academic innovation to meet the needs of students and lifelong learners and to deliver an unmatched and impactful student experience.
Extra credit for your students who attend is encouraged. If you are interested in providing extra credit to your students, please contact Clarissa Steele at crsteele@k-state.edu.
This event is being co-sponsored by UPC and the Center for Advocacy, Response, and Education, or CARE. Jessica Smith, from Texas Tech University, will be the guest speaker for the first film and will help lead the discussion, along with Elizabeth Sharp, Dana Weiser and Don Lavigne.
