Nominations open for university undergraduate research awards

Nominations are now open for the University Award for Distinguished Undergraduate Student in Research and University Distinguished Faculty Award for Mentoring of Undergraduate Students in Research. Any student, faculty or staff may nominate members of our university community for these awards. Each awardee will be recognized at both the campuswide Undergraduate Research Symposium and the All-University Awards ceremony.

University Award for Distinguished Undergraduate Student in Research:

This award was established to recognize outstanding individual contributions in research for the purpose of the discovery and creation of new knowledge at K-State. The award is for an undergraduate student who has demonstrated excellence in research in any field of study.

Applicants may be in any field of endeavor offered at Kansas State University. To be eligible, the applicant/nominee must be an undergraduate student of sophomore status or above and must have been actively engaged in research within the past 12 months prior to the semester of award. Applicants must also be enrolled during the academic year in which the award is given.

Recipients will receive an inscribed plaque and prize of $1,000.00. The nomination deadline is Feb. 1, 2025. More information and the link to nominate can be found online.

University Distinguished Faculty Award for Mentoring of Undergraduate Students in Research:

Given to a faculty member at the rank of assistant, associate or full professor, the award will be based upon the mentoring of an undergraduate researcher in the previous academic year and will encompass spring, summer and fall semesters prior to the award semester. This award has been established to recognize outstanding individual contributions to the development of undergraduates in research projects at Kansas State University. 

Recipients will receive an inscribed plaque and prize of $4,000. The nomination deadline is Feb. 1, 2025. More information and the link to nominate can be found online.
