Kansas State University earns 2024-2025 Military Friendly School designation
Kansas State University has earned the Gold award designation as a Military Friendly School for creating sustainable and meaningful education paths for the military community. K-State was also designated a Military Spouse Friendly School in the Tier 1 research institution category. The results will be published in the October issue of G.I. Jobs magazine and can be found at militaryfriendly.com.
The Military Friendly Schools list is created each year based on extensive research using public data sources from more than 8,800 schools nationwide, input from student veterans and responses to the proprietary, data-driven Military Friendly Schools survey from more than 1,800 participating institutions.
"K-State serving military-affiliated students goes back to our foundation in 1863. Today, we proudly serve our military-affiliated students from first contact to graduation and as alumni," said Dominic Barnes, Fort Riley and military student services coordinator at K-State.
Barnes said the Military Affiliated Resource Center, or MARC, enhances the support environment. The MARC is acknowledged and grant-funded by the U.S. Department of Education as a Center of Excellence for Veteran Student Success. K-State Online, K-State offices at Fort Riley and Fort Leavenworth, and the MARC directly support veterans, active-duty, Guard and Reserves, and military spouses and dependents.
"The K-State Military Affairs Innovation Center enables the university to impact scholarship on contemporary military and veterans, conducts research and outreach programming, and represents K-State at the regional and national level for military and veterans' affairs," Barnes said. "K-State is proud to be recognized by G.I. Jobs at the Gold standard as a Military Friendly and Military Spouse Friendly school!"
