Assess immediate health
After greeting, assess a Friend’s immediate health needs. Volunteer Red Cross Family Service Caseworkers are often among the first responders in an emergency. Following a disaster, Friends may be without critical medication. Without proper food, Friends could go into diabetic shock. Without water, they can become dehydrated. Whenever possible, provide water and have nutritious food available. Personal health of Friends has immediate priority and may require support from a medical professional.
