Offer a symbolic sanctuary
A “symbolic sanctuary” is a place or circumstance that puts Friends to ease. You might go for a walk, have coffee together. You might close an office door. You could move to a room location that reduces external noise to allow for private conversation. In a disaster, the Red Cross ERV (Emergency Response Vehicle) can provide a protective and private space.

A symbolic sanctuary is like a safe house, a place of comfort. In some cases, no good alternative is available so we go to the best possible place.

Ask yourself, “Can we find a good place for a personal conversation?”
