Reframe the challenge as a purpose
This purpose is a reasonable personal goal in response to the challenge that requires self-initiative. Purpose brings Friends’ attention to the future. For example, a widow may decide to live alone and independent. The hurricane survivor may seek to start another life in a different city. The grieving mother may support other parents whose children have died.
Finding purpose enables Friends to take control of their lives. Once Friends form a purpose, then they can begin process of problem solving. Purpose moves Friends beyond heartbreak. Friends never forget or overlook heartbreak and suffering. What has happened (and sometimes is happening) serves as a platform for doing something worthwhile.
