Second Self-test
3. “When I'm feeling angry, telling myself that bad things can happen to good people is an example of rational self-talk” is false?
I think this is true. Our cultural and religious beliefs can influence what we believe to be true and false. Even so, I think examples of the truth of this belief surround us every day. Making this statement to myself takes some of the sting out of the unpleasantness in life. Each of us are being tested by adversity all of the time.
Telling yourself that bad things do not happen to good people, yourself included, can contribute to a bitterness toward life that can become a constant source of anger.
