Pedersen contributes to book on innovation in online learning

Submitted by Grant Guggisberg

Global Campus Dean Karen Pedersen, who came to K-State as a distinguished expert in the world of online learning innovation, contributed to the recently released edited collection, "The Business of Innovating Online: Practical Tips and Advice from Industry Leaders."

The book, aimed at leaders in the online learning industry, responds to a critical need for concrete narratives of innovation success by providing practical guidance for administrators to create a more innovative culture for their own online learning enterprise. This edited collection demystifies the relationship between business, creativity and innovation by outlining the logistics required to create agile online learning organizations.

Pedersen co-authored the final chapter of the book, which focuses on supporting innovation through professional development and community building.

"In my prior role as the chief knowledge officer for the Online Learning Consortium, I had the opportunity to work closely with contributors to this book," Pedersen said. "It is a stellar group of innovative leaders and I'm pleased to be a part of this contribution to the field. Our collaboration here is an attempt to provide a definitive guide for online learning operations worldwide."

The collection was edited by Kathryn E. Linder, research director for Oregon State University Ecampus in Corvallis, Oregon. More information, including purchase options, can be found at ecampus.oregonstate.edu/BIO.
