Spring 2025 undergraduate research symposium application open
Undergraduate research will take center stage at the spring 2025 campuswide undergraduate research symposium from 1-6 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, in the K-State Student Union's Grand Ballroom.
The event is free, and the public is welcome. The program includes two poster sessions and a resource fair. The first group of students will present from 1-3 p.m. and the second group from 4-6 p.m. In between sessions, an undergraduate resource fair will take place in the Union Courtyard, where faculty and staff will promote summer research experiences, lab openings and other opportunities related to undergraduate research.
Students from all colleges and disciplines are welcome to present. The opportunity is available to any undergraduate researcher, and students can submit an application to apply on the symposium webpage until Sunday, March 23.
If students are interested in learning more about the symposium, posters, printing, presenting and more, please join the Canvas course.
The symposium welcomes faculty and staff to become "undergraduate research champions” by signing up to attend and visit at least five posters. The sign-up form is available until just before the conference.
“Undergraduate research is a high-impact practice that allows students the opportunity to learn from mentors, build resilience, apply their classroom learning to real-world challenges, and develop critical thinking, leadership, and communication skills,” said Susan Rensing, associate director of scholar development and undergraduate research. “Our office encourages all students to seek out undergraduate research opportunities during their time at K-State, and we look forward to celebrating the hard work of so many undergraduate researchers at the symposium.”
Scholar Development and Undergraduate Research is in the Staley School of Leadership. The Staley School also includes undergraduate and graduate leadership studies academic programs, leadership and service cocurricular programs, and the University Honors Program. The Staley School equips learners with leadership skills and academic excellence through applied learning experiences, in-class learning and community partnerships around the world.
