First Friday Data Workshop: Mastering NSF's data management plan

K-State Libraries is launching a new series called First Friday Data Workshops to better serve K-State faculty, researchers and graduate students. These practical, hands-on sessions deliver tips for streamlining your data management processes and will be the first Friday of each month this fall.

• First Friday Data Workshops: DMPTool School is at 1 p.m. Sept. 5 in 301 Hale Library. New to applying for National Science Foundation funding? Wondering how to go about creating a successful data management plan? Don't let the data management plan stand in the way of success! Join K-State Libraries for DMPTool School. K-State's data services librarian will walk attendees through the ins-and-outs of creating a successful plan. In addition, Dan Andresen, an National Science Foundation CAREER award winner who has secured more than $30 million in funding, will share his insight. Faculty, researchers and grad students are welcome to bring a laptop or other device to follow along. Please sign up online to attend the September First Friday Data Workshop.
• First Friday Data Workshops: Colectica, an Excel(lent) Plug-in will be at 1 p.m. Oct. 3 in 301 Hale Library. Anyone who records research data using Excel needs to accurately capture variables. K-State's data services librarian will introduce attendees to easy methods of organizing variables using Colectica, a free Excel plug-in. You'll simply capture your variables as you set up your spreadsheet so they're easily exportable at the end of your project. To get the most out of this workshop, faculty, researchers and grad students are invited to bring a fully charged laptop and a sample data set.
