American Institute of Steel Construction awards scholarship to architectural engineering senior
Ryan Whelchel, senior in architectural engineering, has been awarded the Fred R. Havens American Institute of Steel Construction Scholarship for the 2014-2015 academic year. Whelchel, a K-State honors list student, has participated as an undergraduate research assistant in a project with the civil engineering department at Kansas State University.
The American Institute of Steel Construction, in conjunction with structural steel industry partners, awarded scholarships to 27 undergraduate and graduate students in civil and architectural engineering, and construction management across the country, for 2014-2015. The institute and its industry partners place a high priority on the development of future professionals and offered $83,000 of aid to university students for this year's program.
Whelchel is the third architectural engineering student from Kansas State to receive this scholarship with previous awardees in 2012-2013 and 2011-2012.
