David Thompson to give lecture on infographics, publication design

David Thompson, a visiting professor at the A.Q. Miller School of Journalism and Mass Communications, will present a lecture on ways to make communications visually appealing. The 2014 Bill Brown Lecture on Infographics and Publication Design is at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, in the Flint Hills Room of the K-State Student Union.
Thompson is a specialist in the fields of digital and emerging media, in particular the interaction of visual content and reading behavior. He is an award-winning teacher and researches in the areas of visual communication, digital media and popular culture.
As a graduate student he completed a three-year apprenticeship in graphic design and information graphics as a teaching assistant for Professor Bill Korbus at the University of Texas, Austin. His professional experience includes serving as director of online services and content development at the Columbia Daily Tribune in Columbia, Missouri, and the president of family-owned SENSS Publications and Seminars Inc. Thompson taught in Germany as a Fulbright senior scholar in 2005. His home institution is Kennesaw State University near Atlanta.
