Political science professors participate in the Midwest Political Science Association Annual Conference

Four political science professors participated in the Midwest Political Science Association Annual Conference, April 7-10, in Chicago, Illinois. 

Nathaniel Birkhead presented "From Enactment to Repeal: Why Are Laws Targeted for Repeal" with co-author Jordan M. Ragusa from the College of Charleston. He served as discussant for the panel "Sub-National Elections and Representation."

Ethan Bernick served as discussant for the panel "Immigration Policy in the American States."

Sabri Ciftci presented two papers: "Hiding Behind Party Brand or Currying Favor with Constituents?: Determinants of Constituency Oriented Behavior in Turkey" with co-authors Tevfik Murat Yidirim, University of Missouri and "Moral Cosmology, Post-Islamism, and Political Attitudes in the Arab World" with co-authors F. Michael Wuthrich, University of Kansas; and Ammar Shamaileh, University of Louisville. 

Alissandra T. Stoyan presented two papers: "When Women Run the Show: Female Executive Authority and Agenda Setting in Latin America" with co-author Sarah Shair-Rosenfield, Arizona State University; and "Resource Nationalism and Mining: Comparing Nationalization Efforts across Latin America" with co-author Paula Mukherjee, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She served as discussant for the panel "Political Actors and Democratization in Latin America."
