Opera superstar and Grammy-winning guitarist performing Sunday at McCain

Enjoy an evening of beautiful Spanish music when Sharon Isbin, guitarist, and Isabel Leonard, mezzo-soprano, come to Kansas State University at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, April 17, at McCain Auditorium as part of the McCain Performance Series.

Isbin, who has won multiple Grammy Awards, is the head of Julliard's guitar department. She has appeared as a soloist with more than 170 orchestras, has won the Toronto and Madrid Queen Sofia competitions, and was the first guitarist ever to win the Munich competition. She has given sold-out performances in the world’s finest halls.

Leonard, who has also received a Grammy Award, is an icon in the world of opera. Critics around the world have praised her intensity, technique and charisma. She has appeared at the Metropolitan Opera, Vienna State Opera, Paris Opera, Salzburg Festival, Bavarian State Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago and the San Francisco Opera. She also has worked with some of the foremost conductors of in the world, including James Levine, Valery Gergiev, Charles Dutoit, Gustavo Dudamel, Esa-Pekka Salonen and James Conlon.
