The civil engineering department in the Carl R. Ice College of Engineering hosted the 106th annual Kansas Transportation Engineering Conference, or KTEC, April 9-10 on the Manhattan campus.

The event brings together a variety of stakeholders within the transportation industry, including engineers, consultants, contractors, and representatives from the state and local government. The conference offers the chance to earn continuing education credits for those who need them, opportunities to learn from the variety of speakers and panelists, and the chance to connect with colleagues from across the state. More than 500 people registered and participated in the event.

"We look forward to KTEC each year because it provides a unique opportunity to collaborate with great colleagues working in this industry, many of them former students," said Christopher Jones, interim department head and professor of civil engineering. "This year's group of speakers was excellent and really set the tone for a great couple of days for our attendees."

The event also featured the annual Women in Civil Engineering luncheon, with more than 30 women in attendance. Eight current civil engineering students at K-State attended to hear about educational and industry experiences from the women at the conference.

"This was a great networking opportunity for both young students and those graduating in May to ask questions about their future careers or address challenges they have faced," said Grace Lipford, senior in civil engineering.
