Gaulke presents on economic impacts of Type 1 Diabetes
Amanda Gaulke, associate professor of economics, presented work titled "A Childhood Type 1 Diabetes Diagnosis Impacts the Entire Family" at the Danish Diabetes and Endocrine Academy Postdoc Summit.
The summit brought together researchers across the globe who are studying diabetes and endocrinology. While Gaulke served as an expert on the economic impacts of Type 1 Diabetes, the other presenters included experts doing scientific and clinical research.
Gaulke presented work showing that parents and siblings are impacted by a childhood Type 1 Diabetes diagnosis. She is currently on sabbatical at Aarhus University, where she is doing work on whether advancements in medical technology impact health disparities by socioeconomic status.
Gaulke’s research is co-authored by Tine Eriksen, Ennova; Jannet Svensson, Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen; Niels Skipper, Aarhus University; and Peter Thingholm, Aarhus University.
