Fractals of negatively curved crystals focus of Art and Math Seminar

Negatively curved crystalls

The next Art and Math Seminar will feature a virtual talk by Curtis T. McMullen, the Cabot professor of mathematics at Harvard University, from 1-2 p.m. Thursday, March 4. 

The talk is dedicated to illustrating infinity through fractal artwork of negatively curved crystals. McMullen is a world-known specialist in complex dynamics and Teichmüller theory. In 1998 McMullen was awarded the Fields Medal, the most prestigious international award in mathematics.

Registration is required to participate in this seminar

The online seminar is organized by the department of mathematics at Kansas State University in cooperation with the Marianna Kistler Beach Museum of Art. The complete seminar schedule and more details on the series are available online
