Enrollment Holds
Definition
An enrollment hold is an administrative action that prevent a student from enrolling in classes or changing enrollment.
Purpose
The purpose of a hold is to prompt student action to satisfy a requirement deemed essential. Lack of completion may result in enrollment restrictions. Holds ensure the student satisfy requirements and receive appropriate guidance as they pursue their academic program.
Reasons Enrollment May be Held
As such, enrollment can be held for the following reasons:
- To ensure obligations have been met (such as satisfactory academic progress, financial obligations to the University, declaration of major in a timely fashion, etc.)
- To enforce compliance with University regulations (such as immunization regulations)
- To allow review of pending charges of misconduct against the student (either academic or nonacademic)
- When the need of the University is deemed sufficiently great to require potential postponement or denial of enrollment (such as address/emergency contact information updates)
