Register now to attend Water Wednesday luncheon

Submitted by Sophia Cori

The Kansas Water Institute invites K-State faculty, staff and students to the first Water Wednesday luncheon of 2025, to be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Jan. 29 in Hale Library, Room 581.

This month's session will focus on leveraging communication strategies like social media to enhance the reach and impact of water-related research and projects. Attendees will learn best practices and tips for effectively promoting their work to a broader audience across campus and beyond.

"This topic is critical for sharing the important research happening in our network," said Susan Metzger, director of the Kansas Water Institute. "Harnessing the power of social media allows us to not only highlight our work but also engage the broader community in conversations about water and its role in Kansas' future."

Coincidentally, this month's Water Wednesday falls on Kansas Day, and Metzger said that the group will honor the 164th year of statehood by focusing on one of Kansas's most essential resources and the university's efforts toward stewardship and sustainability.

Interested individuals are invited to RSVP online. All K-State faculty, staff and students are welcome, but space is limited to the first 60 registrants. A complimentary lunch will be provided.

The Kansas Water Institute hosts Water Wednesday events each month, aiming to facilitate meaningful exchanges and showcase impactful research. The full Water Wednesday schedule is available on the Kansas Water Institute website. To request additional information, contact water@k-state.edu
