Automatic email forwarding will be deactivated March 13
Submitted by Division of Information Technology
K-State is implementing important changes to improve the security of our technology environment. We have been reviewing the current processes for K-State email accounts to ensure they align with state policies, account management best practices and those of our peer institutions. As a result of this evaluation, automatic email forwarding will no longer be available for K-State email accounts starting March 13.
Automatic email forwarding is the process of automatically sending all of your K-State emails to a personal email account — such as Gmail, iCloud or Yahoo. To minimize risks, protect users and data, and safeguard our overall technology infrastructure, K-State will disable automatic email forwarding for all @ksu.edu and @k-state.edu email accounts.
If you are currently using automatic email forwarding to access your K-State emails through another email service like Gmail, you will need to set up Microsoft Outlook or another email client to access your K-State email directly. If you prefer not to configure a client for direct access, you can continue to use webmail at webmail.ksu.edu. K-Staters who have automatic email forwarding enabled will receive a notification about this change.
This change will not impact approved K-State affiliates or business-related accounts within K-State that are permitted to forward messages to multiple K-State email addresses. It only applies to automatically forwarding emails to personal accounts.
Please remember that your K-State email is the university's official communication channel. You are responsible for regularly checking your email for important updates, whether you are a student, faculty member or staff member. Additionally, your K-State email account should only be used for university-related correspondence.
