K-State Salina campus hosting KSUnite with contributions from students, faculty and staff
Kansas State University Salina is hosting its annual KSUnite on Wednesday, Oct. 16, at the campus's College Center Conference Room or online through Zoom.
KSUnite is an event that is observed across Kansas State University that encourages open dialogue focused on broadening perspectives and bringing the K-State community closer together under a set of shared values true to its land-grant mission.
The Salina event will focus on experiences from the campus's students, faculty and staff in three separate sessions. The first session will focus on creating and listening, led by featured speaker Taryn Howard, assistant teaching professor in English at K-State Salina. This session will lead attendees through the process of simple storytelling.
Session two is Wildcat Dialogues, a student-facilitated opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue. Attendees will be broken into small groups that focus on deliberate conversation to build intentional connections. These conversations discover how each story impacts the K-State Salina community.
The third session will feature speaker Nate McClendon, musician and Beach Museum of Art specialist, in the Portrait Project. This is a social art project that focuses on select K-State Salina students, faculty and staff sharing their unique stories and promoting personal connections through the inclusion of a narrative provided by each subject. The discussion serves as a reminder that every face belongs to a real person, with their own dreams, struggles and triumphs.
KSUnite at K-State Salina begins at 7:45 a.m. on Oct. 16 with a complimentary continental breakfast. Session one, Interactive Story Creation, is from 8:15-9:15 a.m., session two, Wildcat Dialogues, is from 9:15-10:30 a.m. and the Portrait Project, session three, is from 10:30 a.m. to noon. All sessions are stand-alone, and attendees can come and go as they are able or attend all three sessions.
All are welcome to attend KSUnite at K-State Salina, and there is no cost. Complete an RSVP form to indicate your attendance.
