Geringer and Rivera selected as recipients of the July Staff Spotlight Award
Sara Geringer, events planning and coordinator with K-State Olathe, and Javier Rivera, lead custodial specialist, have been selected as the July recipients of the Staff Spotlight Award. The Staff Spotlight Award highlights staff members — university support staff and university professional staff — each month for their service to the K-State community.
Geringer's nominator indicated, "Sara is always willing to adjust her hours as needed to facilitate client needs and events that may extend beyond the scope of normal duties; additionally, she recently provided support to another department by assisting with language translation. Sara makes an effort to ensure that the people around her always feel comfortable, safe, and understood."
Rivera's nomination noted, "Javier leads by example in having the crew take pride in their work. Javier has great people skills and relationships skills with building users in the McCain Auditorium lobby. He keeps them informed on projects he plans to do. He takes pride in his work and his work shows."
Anyone can nominate eligible employees — student employees and faculty are not eligible for award. Nominees will be reviewed by a University Staff Leadership committee of university support staff and university professional staff representatives. Winners will be featured in K-State Today and will receive a $100 from the president's office. Please submit your nominations by the first of each month.
