Submitted by College of Health and Human Sciences
The kinesiology department in the College of Health and Human Sciences will serve as host for the 2025 Active Living Conference. The conference will be hosted on the Manhattan campus March 17-20. The deadline for submissions has been extended to 11:59 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 23.
The Active Living Conference, run by ActivEnviro, brings together professionals from parks, recreation, preventative health, land management education and research, filling the gaps between allied disciplines. ActivEnviro's mission is to empower these individuals, fostering collaboration for thriving communities and promoting sustainable practices toward a healthier future.
The conference invites submissions related to increasing physical activity for all people, with a special focus on equity for racially and ethnically diverse populations, people with disabilities, and those living in lower-income urban and rural communities. Proposals from all friends of research and practice are invited, including those with an international focus. Proposals related to the conference theme, "Bridging the Research to Practice Gap," are also welcomed, but it is not a requirement to address this topic.
Proposals can be submitted under the categories of:
- Practice/policy: Presentations highlighting successful programs, policies and partnerships.
- Research: Presentations describing original research on active living.
- Workshops: Interactive sessions focused on specific skills or knowledge.
Proposals submitted to the practice/policy and research categories will be considered for the following presentation types:
- Oral presentation: 15 minutes — 12-minutes presentation and 3 minutes Q&A.
- Speed talk: 7 minutes — 5-minutes presentation and 2 minutes Q&A.
- Poster: Display during a dedicated networking reception.
More information and proposal submission information can be found on the Active Living Conference webpage.
