Beating the flu starts with you

Kansas State University is one of seven Kansas universities and colleges competing this year in the #KansasFightsFlu Collegiate Flu Challenge. The 2024-2025 school year marks the third annual competition where Kansas students compete against each other to see who can vaccinate the most students against the flu.

Starting in 2022, the statewide Collegiate Flu Vaccination Challenge formed as a partnership between Immunize Kansas Coalition, Kansas Foundation for Medical Care Health Improvement Partners and the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, along with Kansas colleges. From October through December, colleges and universities participate in the statewide campaign to improve our state's influenza vaccination efforts.

At the time of their vaccination, students will be asked to scan a QR code and complete a short survey to be identified as a participant in the challenge. Thanks to funding provided by Healthy Blue Kansas, students who receive their vaccination at Lafene Health Center will automatically be registered to win a $50 Amazon card. Weekly drawings will be held throughout the fall semester.

As influenza, colds and sore throat are identified as the fourth leading cause of academic performance impediments in U.S. college students, this is a great opportunity to protect yourself and compete against your Kansas college peers!

Schedule your appointment for a flu vaccine today on the myLAFENE+ patient portal or by calling 785-532-6544.
